I have officially been staying at home for a week now. Im sure we are all aware of the pandemic ravaging the world. Schools, offices, market places have been closed in order to curb the spread of this virus. My prayer goes to those who have been infected and those in high risk areas. May God keep you and yours.

It didn’t come as a shock to me when we were asked to close down at work because of the situation worldwide, but what shocked me, was the wave of boredom that hit me the very first day of this isolation. Like what to do with so much time.

Prior to this time, saying I was busy was such a good excuse to not seeing some people or doing some things. Now, there’s no such thing.

It took a whole day to get used to having so much time on my hands but then I got a hang of it. One amazing woman sent me some Francine Rivers books and I was hooked. You see I love reading but my excuse was still the usual – no time. When I was younger I read a lot of fiction but I got to a point where I just got over fiction and picked it up later. Now that I’m picking it up (especially romantic Christian fiction) I’m on fire. I read over 300 pages of Francine River’s THE MASTER PIECE in the very first day. It’s a great book.

I also glanced through THINGS I WISHED I’D KNOWN BEFORE WE GOT MARRIED by Gary Chapman and BENEFITS OF CHANGE by Myles Munroe. You can download books on http://B-ok.org or pdfdrive.com. If you have any suggestions, kindly add it in the comment section.

Aside reading books one of the things I could really do was study my bible. The study situation was real real balancing work and study time but now I got time. The study and prayer thing was a real advantage.

I had an editing work to do that I kept hanging all this while but as we speak I have completed 25 pages. What about the people I have talked to over the phone, were we just laughed? Speaking to my family was part of the highlight.

We need a ‘go get it’ mentality to survive in this world. Everybody is on the move doing something or pursuing after something but this compulsory lockdown made everything stop. Everything. No church, no cinemas, no restaurants, no work, no hangouts. The world has paused. It will take a long time before something like this happens again, so I implore you to make the best use of this compulsory vacation.

If you want to rest, please rest. Dont spend your time talking all day. Lie down and sleep.

If you need to re-strategize your vision 2020, please do. If you need to scrutinize your heart posture and goals under the light of the word of God, then please do.

If you need to spice up your relationship or marriage, then this is a good time too. You are spending time with your spouse all day long, prayerfully rebuild all your damaged bridges. You have enough time to call your significant other and plan out your lives together.

If you need to clean out your house and reorganize, then you better get to it because time is running.

When this phase passes (and it definitely will), you would want to look back to see that you have achieved something. You would not want to see that all you did was waste time and get fat. Speaking of adding weight, this would be a good time to practice healthy living or to even fast in other to build spiritual capacity. When was the last time you fasted?

If you are reading this, I hope you are washing your hands, maintaining social distancing and taking this seriously. Above all, I hope that there is no fear or panic in your hearts. May you experience the peace that passes all understanding. This too shall pass.

Thank you for reading. Please share, comment and subscribe. Enjoy

This is a great piece of advice. My take away was this: “When this phase passes. . . you would want to look back to see that you have achieved something. You would not want to see that all you did was waste time and get fat.”

Thank you for what you do.
