Beauty in diversity

With over 7 billion people in this world if you want to start the comparison game na you go tire. I have two beautiful sisters and a lot of female friends. This directly or indirectly has led to a whole lot of comparison – from third parties. I mean the only thing I have to do is be in the same space with them and somebody will start saying one person is ‘finer’ or the other looks better from the behind. For starters who asked you?

One already has so much to deal with, do not add to their plate. Also a person may be trying to deal with however they have found themselves in this world, do not out of nowhere start picking out their faults.

In bible days, David and Jonathan had an enviable type of friendship. David was known to be a mighty man of war but do you know that Jonathan also fought his battles? Yet there was no contention over who was the greater warrior.

Do not forget that Saul was king and Jonathan being Saul’s son was an heir to the throne but when things changed drastically with David becoming king there still was no contention over the throne.

These things may seem little until we remember that the long lasting enmity between Saul and David started when the women sang ‘Saul has killed his thousands and David has killed his ten thousands’, showing that David was a better warrior.

Saul from then on was after David’s life.

Comparison will bring about frustration and will destroy any budding relationship.

Like I earlier said I have experience at being on the receiving end of this comparison business, usually with my sisters. So when they get complimented I would still say thank you. When my friend attains a height I am genuinely for them, even if it is something I also desire.

Also I’ve noticed that you get more affected by this when you’re suffering from an inferiority complex, so you have to shake that off. Confidence is not sprinkled over you it comes from the inside out.

Check yourself, what is really giving you that complex?

Do you think you are ugly or fat? Try wearing right clothes. Try that skin regimen, fix your hair for a change.

Do you think you are not smart? Try reading more, nowadays one can find anything on Google and Youtube.

Do you think other people seem more ‘spiritual’ than you? You would be shocked at what getting to know God for yourself can do for you. Work on yourself my darling and carry yourself like a bag of money.

See yourself properly, then surround yourself with people who see you properly.

Sarah Jakes Robert

And in times when you do not feel very confident remind yourself that you a bag of money and even much more. A King died for you, you are worth more than the world.

Remember that most people are trying to bring you down to their level. There’s nothing as annoying as seeing a smart or beautiful person being bullied by those who aren’t up to their level because they lack confidence.

When I said smart and beautiful I was talking about you. It’s time you leveled it up!

Be the best version of yourself, your only competition is you and no one can beat you at being you.

Well said. Truly, it’s not easy being on that receiving end, nope. Keep driving your words through our conscious minds.

All true!
I think one of the aggravating factor for comparism and it’s consequence is the fact that, most people don’t actually know their predestinated selves. The only definition of themselves that they know, is the one that external conditionality have provided.
Until one knows their true self and worth as relayed by God, irrespective of physical accreditations, we will always fall prey to the deception of comparism
