Being a Christian has to be one of the most exhilarating feelings. You feel light and alive and you literally believe that you can do all things through Jesus Christ that strengthens you. This becomes even more real when you go on long periods of time without food waiting on God or when you say a prayer and there is a speedy answer. One may begin to feel like they’re superhuman.

I’m sorry to break it to you, but you’re not. You’re just a human being marvellously helped by God.

Walking with God has many benefits and one of them includes experiencing divinity from time to time. It could be a warning in form of a dream, an assurance through a voice or the inward witness or the sick being healed and even the dead being raised. All of this and more can occur when a person is surrendered to the move of God.

All these feats do not take away from your humanity. You are still flesh and blood irrespective of the things God uses you to do. The power comes from God and the vessel is you.

Today’s focus is on the meekest man to walk the face of the earth – Moses

A Christian’s Perspective on Depression

You’re human, you will get tired

Moses was the man chosen by God to lead the Israelites away from captivity to the promised land. One of the battles they had to face was against the Amalekites and when Moses rose his hands they would win, but when he dropped them, they lost.

This was a real superhuman moment for him. I can imagine adrenaline pumping through his veins as he watched the people win with his hands stretched to the sky. This was until he got tired – like normal people do and had to bring them down.

Child of God you will get tired. You will get tired physically and sometimes emotionally and mentally. You may get tired of the way things are going on in your life right now or by the frustrations of the people around you but that is normal as you are human.

Even Jesus after fasting for 40 days was hungry because it is normal for the human flesh to feel hunger after being deprived of food. And he had to eat to stop the hunger. He did not pray or wish it away. So, how do you cure hunger? Eat

Are you tired? Rest.

Anyone close to me this season would notice that I am very particular about rest. This includes resting in the finished work of Jesus and resting the body he gave us to manage. Remember, the spirit may be limitless but the body is not.

Help! I feel numb

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28 (NLT)

You’re human, you need people

Let us go back to the story of Moses. When Moses got tired of raising his hands and the Israelites were losing, his friends and co-labourers Aaron and Hur brought stones for him to rest his hands on while lifting them up, and so they eventually won the battle.

‘I am a self-made man’ is not the will of God for your life. In fact, I can tell you that the voice that is telling you to isolate yourself from people because you do not need them is not the voice of God. The plan of God for your life includes the active presence of some people.

Destiny helpers, friends, family, colleagues or whatever you choose to call them, you need people in this life. One of the first things Jesus did before commencing his ministry was to call out 12 people to walk alongside him. He called them disciples.

.I wonder why he did not just go about his ministry by himself. Child of God you need people. You were not created to be an island.

You need to form and cultivate healthy relationships with people because you cannot lift up your hands by yourself when you are tired. And you definitely will get tired. Find your tribe.

Keys to note when feeling overwhelmed

You will get discouraged

If the meekest man could get angry and discouraged then we would definitely feel like that a few times in our lives. And guess what? It is absolutely normal because you’re human.

The Israelites were a stubborn bunch. It was like they resolved to do the reverse of all the things God wanted them to them and this discouraged their leader Moses.

There were times he was angry, times he was frustrated but he rarely was out of character and he would take them to God in prayer.

What about Elijah? There was a time when he was so discouraged that he prayed for death but he was able to overcome after some rest.

What I want you to take away from this blog post is that you are merely a human being helped by God. Do not allow your feelings define you. Rest if you need to, seek assistance if you need to and above all always run to God for help.

I easily get lost in good music and a good book. Jesus is my everything and I am a firm believer that there is more to life than what meets the eye. Lets grow shall we?

We may try to pretend but this is the truth and nothing but the truth. We are still humans and we need others. Thank you so much.

“Elijah was a MAN of similar passions like you and I” – angry, hungry, upset, fearful

Without God, “the best of men is, at best, a man.”

Thank you, sis.

What I can take “away from this blog post is that you are merely a human being helped by God”. I have always upheld the belief that, if we can come to a full grasp (mental and conscious) of this factual truth, our Christian lives would definitely be affected in no small positive measure.

      Thank you for writing, ma.

You’re very right. We’re just vessels and vessels have no power of their own. Thank you for your comment!
