Today’s blogpost is about the story of David. King David is someone who I have come to admire and draw many lessons from as per biblical records.

There was this one time where he had the opportunity of killing his archenemy Saul but he chose to do otherwise. He had many people who were encouraging him to seize this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Now’s your opportunity!” David’s men whispered to him. “Today the Lord is telling you, ‘I will certainly put your enemy into your power, to do with as you wish.’” So David crept forward and cut off a piece of the hem of Saul’s robe.
1 Samuel 24:4 NLT

For one, God did not tell these men that He is putting Saul in David’s power to do as he wished. In fact, in this particular moment, I do not think these men were hearing from God. But guess what they did? They boldly adviced David after judging the situation from their perspective.

Killing the person who constantly sought to kill him seemed logical. Seeing someone who gave you pain in a vulnerable position where you are able to attack is almost divine. It is logical to say an eye for an eye and even quote beautiful scriptures like wisdom is profitable to direct.

Many times we hear things like ‘be smart, even God would have done this or that’. It may seem logical but the logical thing is not always right.

David listened to those men to some degree but instead of killing Saul or causing him bodily harm, he cut a piece of his cloth to pass a clear message to Saul that he was alive only by his mercies. A little threat that screamed ‘I was close enough to hurt you but I didn’t so don’t mess with me next time’ . This minute act was still reprimanded by God as Saul remained the Lord’s anointed at the time.

With over 6 billion people in the world and how the world is a global village, you can have access to as many opinions as you choose to. Opinions from family, friends, co-workers and even strangers on the internet.

There is no limit to the number of people you can follow on social media, so you can digest as much as you want. Our problem is not lack of information but too much of it.

Some of the things you will hear would seem logical. Remember when Samuel went to the house of Jesse to anoint a new king, as soon as he met the first son Eliab
he said surely this is the Lord’s anointed, but no it was not.

This led to an amazing instruction by God just in the next verse,

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7 NLT

The ways of God are higher than our ways and His thoughts are too. This is why a relationship with God is very important so as not to be drowned in the buzz of the world.

There are a few things I want you to pick from this,
Every human being whether a man of God or not is firstly a man. Hence this man (or woman) still has access to his soul which makes up of his mind, his thoughts and his opinions. A man of God has opinions and may give you them.

There are many instances in the bible where Paul said I speak as a man. Meaning this particular thing is my personal opinion. Many of us -unlike Paul, are unable to discern when it’s just us versus when it’s God. Weigh every single advice given to you from even man of God by the word of God. No one is too high up the anointing ladder that they cannot pass through the filter of God’s word.

Any one who condemns you is not speaking the mind of God. There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ and the devil is the accuser of the brethren. He is the one who condemns you and makes think you are undeserving of mercy or forgiveness.

There are fundamentals you need to know about God. He loves you completely and nothing you can do will take away from that. He offered salvation through His son Jesus Christ, so anyone who accepts him is completely forgiven and given a new slate.

Be careful to sift any voice that makes you feel undeserving of God’s love.

Train your heart to shut out the buzz because trends will come and go, but the core of who you are lasts forever.

No man has the last say over your life. Speak positively over yourself irrespective of what they have to say. When they call you dumb, say I’m smart. When they call you ugly, say I’m beautiful, in fact, fearfully and wonderfully made. When they say you have to reduce your godly standards to get certain favours, say my God will supply all my needs.

When they say, you are incapacitated, say I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. When they pronounce death over you, say not yet as God will satisfy me with long life. When they say you will follow in the negative steps of your father, say for every man in Christ is a new creature, old things are passed away and all things are become new.

So above the voice of men, above the opinions of men and above the ratings of men, speak God’s word over your life. In no time, you will see the manifestation.

Thank you for reading. Do not forget to like, share and leave a comment below. God loves you like crazy.

Beyond the voice of men is the truth needed by all.

In this season where the audibility of men tend to surpass the meek stirring of the heart;

Yet, the most blessed assurance is in the frame drawn by the ever living word and truth of God.

Thanks for putting up this excellent piece.

No one is too high up the anointing ladder not to pass through the scrutiny of the Word. (Paraphrased.) Gold. Pure gold.

“Any one who condemns you is not speaking the mind of God. There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ and the devil is the accuser of the brethren.” These words hit a chord in me. Thank you dear! If you don’t mind I’ll like to share this on my WhatsApp status.

Aptly captured! A lot of ideologies are trending these days on social media. Christians must rely on scriptures only as the only guiding book. As for those asking for ‘thunder and brimstone’ on their enemies, let them read and understand Matthew 5:43-48. God bless you for the enlightenment.
